MANILA / RUSSIANS TO GET FAIR TRIAL
President Rodrigo Duterte has assured Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev that Russian nationals Yuri Kirdyushin and Anastasia Novopashina, who are facing illegal drugs charges in the Philippines, will get a fair trial. Duterte also said the Russians will be detained in a “comfortable house.” “We have a working functional justice system here and they will get a fair trial and they will be detained in a comfortable house. It’s still under investigation,” he said. The Philippines and Russia have signed an extradition treaty and nine other agreements.
