SIBERIAN HUSKY

-

Pet Breed

It was Mother’s Day when my parents got interested in having a dog. I kept my silence. I did not want to have a dog. It was too much of a hassle. I did not like the idea of cleaning up dog poo and pee, the additional expenses for the vaccination and vet costs, additional costs for the food etc. I thought it was a waste of money.

My parents sought a breeder of Siberian Huskies in Talisay City. As they looked at the puppies, one of them stood out. It was Bruce! He caught their attention because he was standing in his cage excited to see my parents. My parents fell in love with him at first sight. Right there and then, my father said he’d buy it. A few days later, the breeders brought the dog to the house, and Bruce went running and jumping with joy in his new home.

I was still hesitant then. I said to myself, “This is a bad idea.” But, I had no choice. I had to take care of the dog because he was already there.

Slowly, I started to fall in love with the dog. He gave me joy that I had not felt for a very long time. Every time I see him jumping with joy just seeing me brings a smile to my face. I now think that having a dog is not bad. In fact, it was the best decision ever made. He brought joy that my family has not experienced in a very long time. Now, ironically, I feel like Bruce loves me the most.

What’s the best thing about your pet?

Every time someone gets home, he would jump for joy as he happily greets us, and his favorite treat is dog vitamins.

What tip can you give people who want to be responsible owners?

I am a newbie when it comes to owning a dog. A tip that I can give is to do some research as much as you can, especially when you are new. My brothers and I stopped my father from doing things that are not good for the dog a lot of times. Sometimes, there are things that you want to do that you think are good, but are not. Examples of these are overfeeding and feeding the dog human food.
