Kylie: Almost a billionaire

-

Kylie Jenner, 20, is $100 million short of becoming the youngest self-made billionaire.

According to Forbes, the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner siblings is about to join the billionaire’s club because of her “lip kit” business. Her Kylie Cosmetics, launched in 2016, created the $29 lip kit comprising matching lipstick and lip liner. It has sold more than $630 million worth of makeup since.

Jenner takes the cover of the August 2018 issue of Forbes (the cover says she’s 21 because her birthday is on Aug. 10).

Based on Forbes’ computation, Jenner’s company is worth $800 million and the reality star owns 100 percent of it. It has since expanded to other makeup products like eye shadow and concealer.

But the company is not her only source of income. She is part of the hit reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and starred in her own show, “Life of Kylie.” She also owns a clothing line called Kendall + Kylie with model-sister Kendall. These ventures have ballooned her worth to $900 million, the financial magazine estimated.

“Another year of growth will make her the youngest self-made billionaire ever, male or female, trumping Mark Zuckerberg, who became a billionaire at age 23. (Snapchat’s Evan Spiegel also became a billionaire in his early 20s, though it’s less clear when he passed that threshold), the Forbes feature read.

“Social media is an amazing platform. I have such easy access to my fans and my customers,” Jenner said of her success.
