Chil­dren’s Games to visit Tondo

MANILA - The Philip­pine Sports Com­mis­sion (PSC), through the Philip­pine Sports In­sti­tute (PSI), will con­duct the Chil­dren’s Games’ ‘Palaro Kon­tra Droga: PSC-PSI Manila Multi-Sport Camp’ in Smokey Moun­tain, Tondo over the week­end.

PSI NCR Pro­gram Co­or­di­na­tor and for­mer PSC Deputy Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor, Ce­sar V. Pradas said that “the PSC wants par­tic­i­pants to dis­cover their tal­ents and po­ten­tial in base­ball and soft­ball, fin­ish col­lege and mold them to be­come good ci­ti­zens.”

The event is in­tended for the youth of ru­ral fam­i­lies re­sid­ing in Smokey Moun­tain Field in Tondo, Manila. Through the ini­tia­tive of PSC Chair­man Wil­liam "Butch" Ramirez and su­per­vi­sion of PSI na­tional di­rec­tor Marc Velasco, the event will fo­cus not only in the value of youth in sports, but also seek to en­cour­age the younger gen­er­a­tion in fight­ing il­le­gal drug use.

The pro­gram will be in part­ner­ship with the City of Manila and pub­lic schools of Tondo.

Base­ball and soft­ball games will be held at the Smok­ing Moun­tain Field on Satur­day, while swim­ming and taek­wondo games will be con­ducted at the Rizal Me­mo­rial Sports Com­plex on Sun­day. Atleast 500 chil­dren are ex­pected to at­tend.
