Dusit Thani to raise hotel standards here, say

- By Reuel John F. Lumawag

THE presence of Dusit Thani in Davao City is seen to raise the standards of hotel accomodations here, said an executive of Philippine Hoteliers Incorporated.

Last November 9, 2017, Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation (TLDC) had a topping off ceremony for its Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 Hotel in Lanang, Davao City.

"Aside from providing the market with a luxury brand with all the fivestar amenities, I think it will do a great service to Davao. It will upgrade the accomodation industry here," said Evelyn Singson Vice Chair and President of the Philippine Hoteliers Incorporated, which owns and operates the Dusit franchise in the Philippines.

She said the hotels that are operating here will "have to upgrade and renovate if they want to remain competitive."

"All the new hotels that will come in will have to match the quality and standards Dusit Thani is setting. In effect, the brand is raising the bar so Davao will become, in a sense, a city that can cater to all kinds of market including the luxury market," Singson said.

She also assured that despite having a much higher cost for accommodation, guests can expect high quality service. “Patrons of Dusit Thani Residence Davao will experience the fusion that will elevate the potential for both the Thai and Filipino cultures. Anybody can teach anybody to serve a cup of tea, to serve a glass of wine, but it comes down to the small things – the little touches here and there that bring out the genuineness, the heart. That makes all the difference, really,” Singson said in a statement.

The construction of the luxury residential and hotel complex is expected to be completed by 2018.

The Dusit Thani Residence will have 174 units while the dusitD2 hotel will have 120 rooms.
