2 houses dam­aged due to land­slide

TWO houses were par­tially dam­aged yes­ter­day morn­ing af­ter a land­slide oc­curred at a hilly part of Purok 16 Ti­gatto, Buhangin District.

Davao City Disas­ter Risk Re­duc­tion and Man­age­ment Of­fice (CDRRMO) op­er­a­tion of­fi­cer Ro­drigo Bustillo said that they have ad­vised forced evac­u­a­tion to about 26 fam­i­lies in the land­slide af­fected area.

“There are two houses par­tially dam­aged af­ter be­ing hit by the land­slide de­bris,” he siad.

He added that the land­slide took place around 6:55 a.m., this af­ter a heavy down­pour in the pre­vi­ous evening. Bustillo said that the land­slide oc­curred in a sloped part of the barangay that sup­ports the road go­ing to Man­dug.

“So far we have not recorded any ca­su­alty or in­jured peo­ple,” he added.

He said that based on the mon­i­tor­ing with the re­spon­ders, the barangay has al­ready es­tab­lished an evac­u­a­tion area near the land­slide af­fected area.

He said that the res­i­dents in the area, prior to the in­ci­dent, have been warned that the area is land­slide-prone.

This was the lat­est land­slide in­ci­dent af­ter the Di­ver­sion Road land­slide that caused heavy traf­fic.
