In­spec­tions on firms halted

TO make sure that no City Hall em­ploy­ees will so­licit fa­vors from busi­ness es­tab­lish­ments this Christ­mas sea­son, the Of­fice of the City Mayor has or­dered the tem­po­rary sus­pen­sion for the con­duct of in­spec­tions for all depart­ment of­fices from De­cem­ber 1 to Jan­uary 2, 2018.

The me­moran­dum, which was signed by Act­ing Davao City Ad­min­is­tra­tor lawyer Tris­tan Dwight Domingo, was re­leased last Novem­ber 24 by the author­ity of the city mayor per ex­ec­u­tive order No. dated Au­gust 1, 2016.

"Ef­fec­tive De­cem­ber 1, 2017, un­til Jan­uary 2, 2018, you are hereby in­structed to tem­po­rar­ily sus­pend the con­duct of in­spec­tions of what­ever kind or na­ture by you re­spec­tive of­fices. Mon­i­tor­ing ac­tiv­i­ties how­ever, con­tinue but not in­clude among oth­ers, vis­i­ta­tions and/or di­rect con­tract with any or all busi­ness es­tab­lish­ments," Domingo said.

He added that in­spec­tions to be con­ducted dur­ing afore­men­tioned pe­riod shall only be on a case to case ba­sis and with ex­plicit order of ap­proval of the city ad­min­is­tra­tor or the city mayor.

"Any vi­o­la­tion of the order shall be dealt ac­cord­ingly," Domingo said.
