711 barangay nu­tri­tion schol­ars join congress

KI­DA­PAWAN CITY - A to­tal of 711 Barangay Nu­tri­tion Schol­ars (BNS) from dif­fer­ent mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties of Cota­bato Prov­ince con­vened for the 6th Barangay Nu­tri­tion Schol­ars (BNS) Congress that ended here yes­ter­day at the Provin­cial Capi­tol Gym­na­sium in Amas.

Cota­bato Gov­er­nor Em­my­lou “Lala” Tal­iño Men­doza joined them dur­ing the open­ing pro­gram, thank­ing them for their sig­nif­i­cant roles as front­lin­ers of health in the vil­lages. Maria Ana D. Uy, Provin­cial Nu­tri­tion Ac­tion Of­fi­cer of South Cota­bato, dis­cussed the roles and func­tions of BNS to­wards sus­tain­able de­vel­op­ment.

The gath­er­ing also aimed to up­date the BNS with the new in­for­ma­tion on nu­tri­tion and in im­ple­ment­ing health and nu­tri­tion ser­vices at the grass­roots level.

Mean­while, the Provin­cial Gov­ern­ment of Cota­bato/Ser­bisy­ong To­too Yearend Rice Relief/Dis­tri­bu­tion went to the Mu­nic­i­pal­ity of Banisi­lan and pro­vided rice to some 11,393 beneficiaries.

Com­ing from 20 barangays, the beneficiaries were iden­ti­fied as among the poor­est of the poor fam­i­lies. The team from the Provin­cial So­cial Wel­fare and De­vel­op­ment Of­fice (PSWDO) started the dis­tri­bu­tion in Barangay Thai­land and Barangay Carug­manan be­fore pro­ceed­ing to other vil­lages af­ter­wards.
