711 barangay nutrition scholars join congress
KIDAPAWAN CITY - A total of 711 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) from different municipalities of Cotabato Province convened for the 6th Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) Congress that ended here yesterday at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium in Amas.
Cotabato Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño Mendoza joined them during the opening program, thanking them for their significant roles as frontliners of health in the villages. Maria Ana D. Uy, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer of South Cotabato, discussed the roles and functions of BNS towards sustainable development.
The gathering also aimed to update the BNS with the new information on nutrition and in implementing health and nutrition services at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Cotabato/Serbisyong Totoo Yearend Rice Relief/Distribution went to the Municipality of Banisilan and provided rice to some 11,393 beneficiaries.
Coming from 20 barangays, the beneficiaries were identified as among the poorest of the poor families. The team from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) started the distribution in Barangay Thailand and Barangay Carugmanan before proceeding to other villages afterwards.
