Kapuso actress Glaiza de Castro admitted that every single thing she does for her newest soap, “Contessa,” is really testing her.

She noted that “Everything in this show is challenging.”

While speaking with the Davao entertainment press last March 7 at New Asia Restaurant, the 30-year-old singer-actress shared that doing “Contessa” is both physically and emotionally challenging.

She added that that this is the most dramatic role she has ever portrayed in her almost two decades in the Philippine entertainment industry.

The fact that this is heavy drama, Glaiza explained that she needs to motivate herself to exhibit the deepest of emotions.

“Pagdating sa emotional requirement ng show, may acting coach kami sa set,” she revealed.

Meanwhile, Jak Roberto, who plays Glaiza’s bestfriend in the show, said that the moment he received the script, he immediately knew that incredible acting skill is surely required of him.

“Nang ibinigay sa’kin ang role, sabi ko pa: ‘Aktingan ‘to,’” he said. “Sobrang naooverwhelm ako kasi ang mga kaeksena ko rito ay napapanood ko lang dati.”

The upcoming afternoon soap will introduce Glaiza as Beatrice “Bea” Resureccion, who would eventually become Contessa as she seeks revenge on those who took everything and everyone she loved aways from her. The story would evolve after she will be put behind bars for a crime she never committed.

Jak, on the other hand, is Santiago “Jong” Generoso, Jr. Although she is Bea’s most reliable buddy, he is actually hiding his real feelings for her. In fact, he is secretly hoping that she will love him back.

Adding to the intersting plot of “Contessa” are: Geoff Eigenmann as Gabriel Caballero, Glaiza’s leading man; Gabby Eigenmann as Vito Imperial, a powerful and influential man with some illegal business dealings; Lauren Young as Daniella Imperial, the self-entitled, sophisticated head of Empire Publishing Group; and Mark Herras as Marco Caballero, a good-looking, intelligent writer and the long-time boyfriend of Bea who gets murdered.

Apart from them, two of the country’s well-loved veteran actresses are also part of GMA Network’s original series. Chanda Romero is Charito Castillo-Imperial, the manipulative mother of Daniella and Vito; and Techie Agbayani, the mysterious and rich prisoner Guada Venganza.

“Contessa” will premiere on March 19 on GMA’s Afternoon Prime block, right after “Eat Bulaga.” ### For comments and suggestions, please feel free to reach me at mendoza.jenny
