Samaleño returns home
ISLAND Garden City of Samal -- After living in Padre Garcia, Batangas for the last 25 years, Teresito Antalan, 78 years old, finally got his wish to return to Samal Island when he arrived here on July 11, 2018.
Antalan, who is single, had no immediate family or relatives in Batangas but he has two adopted children, who already have their own families.
Through the coordinated efforts between the local government unit of Padre Garcia, Davao City Social Services Development Office (CSSDO), and Samal City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), Teresito Antalan arrived safely in Samal Island and is now under the care of his niece, Juliet Antalan daughter of Teresito’s brother.
The city, through its Socail Welfare office, will continuously monitor and provide the necessary assistance intended for all senior citizens.
“I kept dreaming of my sister Sofia telling me to come back home to Samal Island. Now I‘m here, I am so happy and thankful for the efforts of Padre Garcia Mayor Michael C. Rivero and CSSDO," Antalan said.
Antalan was accompanied by Rivera together with Padre Garcia Social Welfare Officer Welma Galela, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Orlando Silva, Municipal Councilor Atty. Mona Seria, and Davao City Mayor’s office representative Julius Solis.
“We are thankful to the Municipality of Padre Garcia, through mayor Rivera, for the effort and help they extended to Antalan. We have to assess first his status so that we will know what support or help we can extend to him,” Abundia Lariosa of CSWD said. Emma Recalde/Samal Info.
