The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Region 11 is planning to have a cashless system in the facility of Davao City Female Jail.

“Ang physical currency sa jail iyaha gyud eliminate para ma curb ang drug purchase og mar- ket sa sulod sa female jail facility (The physical currency will be eliminated to curb the drug purchase and market inside the female jail facility),” Jail Officer 1 Harvey Bryan Malnegro, community relations officer of BJMP 11, said yesterday.

He added that if cash transactions will be eliminated, contraband purchases and market will have diffculty in penetrating the facility.

The planned cashless system will have a software to register and monitor female inmate’s purchase to their commissary through card and scanned biometric of inmate’s thumbprint.

The initial payment of the project will be taken from the funds that will be raised from their upcoming event Off-Road Duathlon headed by Jail Senior Inspector Rovie Ann Alcantara on October 29 in line with the National Correctional Consciousness Week (NACOCOW).

For registration, interested participants may visit BMJPRO-11 inside Davao City Jail or check out the BJMP Multi-Sports-X1 Facebook page.
