National scientists share expertise in DavNor
The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology 11 thru Provincial Science and Technology Center-Davao del Norte, conducted a Symposium for the Youth and Dialogue with NAST Scientists (lecture series) last September 24-25, 2018 at the Molave Hotel, Tagum City.
The first day of the symposium was designed for students of Davao del Norte to pursue a scientific career.
The dialogue with NAST scientists on the day two was intended to encourage researchers from various organizations, even entrepreneurs to adapt science and technology for development.
NAST scientists present were academicians Eufemio T. Rasco, Asuncion K. Raymundo, Victor B. Amoroso, whose scientific discussion focused on agriculture (rice, cacao, banana); academician Jose Maria P. Balmaceda talked about his career in mathematics; Dr. Ida F. Dalmacio explained important concepts in food processing; and Dr. Allan N. Soriano elaborated on engineering.
More than 200 participants coming from the academe, various organizations and entrepreneurs in Davao del Norte attended the two-day event.
This activity is part of NAST’s aim to increase awareness and encourage interest in the field of science and technology for the next generation of Filipino scientists. /
