- Students from the University of the Assumption (UA) recently volunteered to decorate the municipal materials recovery facility (MRF) at Sitio Bebe Arabia here.

According to Mayor Danilo Guintu, the students volunteered to design the concrete fence of the MRF as part of their community outreach program.

He said that the student-artists painted different colorful ecological murals to urge the public to preserve nature through proper waste segregation.

"Kapag sinabing MRF, dapat hindi lang basura yan. Pinaganda namin para ma-encourage ang mga kababayan natin na mag-segregate at

ayusin ang mga basura nila kasi yung paglalagyan, maayos at malinis," he said.

The mayor extended his gratitude to the students and administration of the university for their initiative to help the municipality.

He also cited the other organizations and individuals who participated in the activity including personnel of the General Services Office, students of Tarik Suliman High School and residents.

Meanwhile, Guintu disclosed that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources awarded some P5-million funds to rehabilitate the said MRF.

He said that the budget will be allocated for the upgrading of the concrete fence and improvement of its topping.
