DENR, San Jose del Monte LGU part­ner in for­est and land­scape restora­tion project

JOSE DEL MONTE CITY --The Depart­ment of En­vi­ron­ment and Nat­u­ral Re­sources (DENR) Bu­la­can and the city govern­ment of San Jose Del Monte re­cently inked a Mem­o­ran­dum of Agree­ment (MOA) for the Marik­ina River Basin For­est and Land­scape Restora­tion Project.

“The MOA cov­ers com­mu­nity de­vel­op­ment, pro­duc­tion of high value crops, and es­tab­lish­ment of mon­i­tor­ing sta­tion for the Marik­ina River Basin For­est and Land­scape Restora­tion within the po­ten­tial area of 2,365 hectares,” Bu­la­can Pro­vin­cial En­vi­ron­ment and Nat­u­ral Re­sources Of­fice head Celia Este­ban dis­closed.

“Based on the In­te­grated River Basin Man­age­ment and De­vel­op­ment Mas­ter Plan for Marik­ina River Basin, the head­wa­ter of Marik­ina River is lo­cated in San Jose del Monte City, which leads to the up­stream sec­tion in San Ma­teo, Rizal,” Este­ban added.

DENR al­lo­cated about P29.5-mil­lion for the en­vi­ron­men­tal preser­va­tion and re­for­esta­tion of the area where the head­stream of the said river is sit­u­ated.
