JOSE DEL MONTE CITY --The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bulacan and the city government of San Jose Del Monte recently inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Marikina River Basin Forest and Landscape Restoration Project.
“The MOA covers community development, production of high value crops, and establishment of monitoring station for the Marikina River Basin Forest and Landscape Restoration within the potential area of 2,365 hectares,” Bulacan Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office head Celia Esteban disclosed.
“Based on the Integrated River Basin Management and Development Master Plan for Marikina River Basin, the headwater of Marikina River is located in San Jose del Monte City, which leads to the upstream section in San Mateo, Rizal,” Esteban added.
DENR allocated about P29.5-million for the environmental preservation and reforestation of the area where the headstream of the said river is situated.
