Masantol launches MASA-MASID program
MASANTOL - After clearing all 26 villages from the proliferation of illegal drugs, the local government here on Monday launched the Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomalya-Mamamayang Ayaw sa Droga (MASA-MASID) program.
MASA-MASID is a national program which aims to mobilize the different community sectors as front runners in the fight against illegal drugs, corruption and criminality.
Together with the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police, the local government introduced the committee composed of representatives from different groups who will lead the program.
Mayor Danilo Guintu said that scheme will help in maintaining the status of the municipality as a drug-cleared town as well as improve peace and or der.
He said that the members of the committee will be incharge of guarding their communities from crime and existence of suspects.
He added that they will also be tasked to disseminate information and educate the public of the programs and projects, as well as ways to avoid being victim of crimes. “Ang maintenance ng peace and order ay hindi lang trabaho ng gobyerno o pulis. Kailangan sama-sama tayo at itong programa ay isang paraan para ma-unite ang mamamayan laban sa krimen at ilegal na aktibidad,” he said.
