CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Telecommunication giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) is bent to build a call center with direct access to an 911 emergency hotline for citizen complaints and emergencies throughout Pampanga.

PLDT SME Nation representative Angela Camacho revealed yesterday the proposal during a courtesy visit with Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda at the Governor’s Office.

Camacho said the “911” number will serve as emergency hotline for citizens in the province, where Kapampangans can call in to report any kind of urgent concerns such as crime, disaster or need for medical assistance.

“One of the good things is, if we do this in Pampanga, there is no capital expenditure

required. It operates as a service. Meaning to say, MRCbased. It goes to operational expenditures,” Camacho added.

She added the plan to put up an emergency response team is aimed at making sure of the speedy response on complaints, crises and disasters within the province.

Governor Pineda positively considered the said proposal and talks are underway as to what else will be needed.— Ma. Reina Len Luna/Pampanga PIO
