BuCACA con­cert high­lights An­geleño artistry

AN­GE­LES CITY – In cel­e­bra­tion of the National Arts Month in the city, the An­ge­les City Tourism Of­fice (ACTO) in part­ner­ship with the Cul­ture and Arts Coun­cil of An­ge­les (CACA) staged the Bugnus ing Cabi­as­nang Ca­pam­pan­gan (BuCACA) con­cert at the Plaza An­gel, Fe­bru­ary 11.

The BuCACA, an all dis­ci­pline con­cert fea­tured the seven dis­ci­plines of art namely the­ater, film, lit­er­a­ture, dance, ar­chi­tec­ture, vis­ual arts, and mu­sic.

“I have wit­nessed how our cul­ture evolved through the years and it is re­ally as­tound­ing to see more peo­ple ap­pre­ci­at­ing beauty in the arts,” said Joy Cruz, Deputy City Tourism Of­fi­cer.

“We are now ex­pe­ri­enc­ing a re­nais­sance of cul­ture and arts here in An­ge­les City and I will gladly look for­ward on how our cul­ture will flour­ish through our tal­ented artists and dream­ers,” Cruz added.

Par­tic­i­pat­ing groups rep­re­sent­ing the var­i­ous fields of art in­clude Teatro An­geleño for The­ater, Solei Ylyanna Cruz for Lit­er­a­ture, The Philip­pine Bal­let The­atre for Dance, Edu Per­reras for Vis­ual Arts, and Mutya ning An­ge­les 2016 Youth Am­bas­sador Ari­ana Gaza for Mu­sic.

Sinuk­wan Ka­pam­pan­gan (SiKap), on the other hand, pre­sented con­tem­po­rary dance in­ter­pre­ta­tions of Film and Ar­chi­tec­ture.

The pro­gram com­menced with a cer­e­mo­nial rit­ual of wa­ter­ing the “Puno ng Sin­ing” led by the rep­re­sen­ta­tives per art field.

Peter de Vera, SiKap Artistic Di­rec­tor and for­mer Vice Head of the National Com­mis­sion for Cul­ture and the Arts- National Com­mit­tee on Dance (NCCANCD), shared that the rit­ual sig­ni­fies the CACA’s ob­jec­tive of cul­ti­vat­ing and nour­ish­ing lo­cal arts in the city.

The CACA is a gath­er­ing of artists from the city of var­i­ous art dis­ci­plines (the­atre, lit­er­a­ture, dance, ar­chi­tec­ture, vis­ual arts, culi­nary, fash­ion and beauty, and mu­sic). The coun­cil aims to col­lab­o­rate, dis­cuss, and de­velop the cul­tural di­rec­tions and poli­cies for the city.

On the other hand, up­com­ing events for the national arts month in­clude the 2017 ALCUl­turati Re­gional Aca­demic and Cul­tural Ex­change Fes­ti­val which will be held on Fe­bru­ary 15-17 at the City Col­lege of An­ge­les and her­itage district.

Out­stand­ing An­geleño artists will be given recog­ni­tions in Pupul ning Banua awards night which will take place on Fe­bru­ary 24 at the Plaza An­gel.

The An­ge­les City Li­brary and In­for­ma­tion Cen­ter is set to host work­shops and public sketch­ing on Fe­bru­ary 18 and 22 re­spec­tively, while the Museo ning An­ge­les will hold an ex­hibit en­ti­tled “Paul Del Mundo Ex­hibit: Amer­i­can Pikin­isan.”
