STAND UP AGAINST BULLYING!

-

JENNIFER D. MACASPAC

As we all know, bullying is a big threat to our society. This doesn’t just happen at school grounds but outside school premises as well. The problem is that when it comes to bullying, our society can’t stand up to it. Bullying needs to be stopped and we need to start preventing bullying by guiding our society to righteous ways and telling them the cause on what bullying can do to a person’s confidence or self-esteem.

Bullying is no joke. A lot of us neglect our responsibilities when bullying occurs on a certain student or person just to avoid conflicts between parents and reputation. But that is wrong. We should take a stand and do things right no matter what the consequences are. It is a step further to prevent the causes of bullying in our generation.

As our Republic Act 10627 or the Anti-Bullying Law states that, we will “stand up and speak out” against bullying; this is true. Some communities even think that bullying can never happen to them but in reality, it can and it will. It happens everywhere, we just need to open our eyes and face reality. No matter how small the act of help we can give, it can save a person’s life.

These bullying acts cannot stay and we should take responsibility and prevent unreported bullying when it occurs. Lend an ear, hear out when a person is bullied, speak out and help the bullied and stand up when bullying occurs. Do not let bullies trample all over us; it is time we all take a stand.
