For­mer drug users at­tend vil­lage com­mu­nity ser­vice

CITY --- A group of for­mer shabu users are join­ing a com­mu­nity ser­vice in Barangay Bal­ibago to get away from the il­le­gal vice.

Bal­ibago Chair­man Rode­lio “Tony” Ma­mac said that sur­ren­derees vol­un­teered to help in the Gu­layan Sa Barangay pro­gram of the vil­lage.

Var­i­ous crops and veg­eta­bles are grown un­der the project, ac­cord­ing to the vil­lage chief.

“Our ef­fort is pay­ing off with these guys. They were for­mer users of il­le­gal drugs and now they re­al­ized the bad ef­fects in their lives,” Ma­mac said.

“They are vol­un­tary do­ing com­mu­nity ser­vice in our Gu­layan sa Barangay by cul­ti­vat­ing the soil for the veg­eta­bles,” he added.

The barangay chair­man urged other drug users to fol­low suit and join the lo­cal of­fi­cials in chang­ing the com­mu­nity into a drug-free and peace­ful place.

“There is al­ways a room for sec­ond chance in Barangay Bal­ibago. I am urg­ing other users of il­le­gal drugs to join us and make our so­ci­ety a peace­ful and happy place to live in,” Ma­mac said.
