Bataan advocates disaster preparedness this July
BALANGA CITY, Bataan — Disaster preparedness and emergency response will be emphasized in Bataan this July as the province joins the nation in the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM).
The Provincial Government of Bataan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) lined up activities that will equip the public with knowledge and skills on disaster resilience.
“PDRRMO strives to raise people’s awareness on the different threats and hazards and build their knowhow on preparedness measures,” PDRRMO Head Josefina Timoteo said.
With this, various government institutions and non-government organizations, in partnership with the Bataan Medical Society, joined the nationwide mass hands only cardiopulmonary resuscitation last July 16.
The activity was held at selected venues such as Bataan People’s Center and Doña Francisca covered court in Balanga City, Petron in Limay, Orion Plaza, Mariveles Municipal Hall and Pilar Municipal Evacuation Center.
Meanwhile, the provincial celebration of NDRM began on July 17 with a motorcade parade from Dinalupihan and Mariveles towns to Balanga City.
Bataan Peninsula State University-Main Campus hosted the opening program followed by a poster making contest.
PDRRMO will also stage rescue exhibit and fitness activities at the Capitol Compound to further advocate a safe and secure community for Bataeños.
This year’s observance carries the theme “Katatagan sa Kalamidad ay Makakamtan Kapag Sapat ang Kaalaman sa Kahandaan.”
