Screen Time
Heritage brand De Gournay, best known for its fine craftsmanship and exacting bespoke services, offers intricate wallcoverings and fabrics with ornate designs that can completely transform a space. The Coco
Coromandel wallcovering is no different. It is inspired by Chinese lacquer screens that became popular in the West from the 17th century; a particular fan was fashion legend Coco Chanel, said to have owned 32 of them. To create Coco Coromandel, artisans studied a section of one of these screens, re-interpreting the carved patterns by painting peonies, peacocks, and other designs by hand onto Chinese rice paper.
