Games Wednesday (The Arena, San Juan City) 10 a.m. – Air Force vs IEM 1 p.m. – Megabuilders vs Cignal 4 p.m. – Creamline vs Power Smashers 6:30 p.m. – Perlas-BanKo vs UP

Cignal hardly flexed its muscles as it walloped Gamboa Coffee, 25-11, 25-15, 25-18, yesterday to remain unbeaten in the men’s division of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.

Cignal Coach Oliver Almadro used all his players in clinching their fourth straight victory in as many matches.

The win also tied the HD Spikers to the Megabuilders Volley Bolts at the helm.

While everybody contributed a little of everything, Lorenzo Capate anchored Cignal with 10 points, eight coming from attacks, even as skipper Ysay Marasigan and Peter Torres contributed eight and seven points, respectively.

So dominating were the HD Spikers that only six players scored for the Coffee Spikers with the trio of Philip Bagalay, Alfredo Pagulong, and Salvador Navera managing only six points apiece.

Cignal overpowered Gamboa on all fronts by whipping more attacks (40-20) and blocks (10-3). The HD Spikers also fired five service aces and had more digs (35-26).

Gamboa dropped to its fourth consecutive defeat in as many appearances and joined Café Lupe at the bottom standings.

Meanwhile, Sta. Elena turned to the dynamic duo of Isaah Arda and Berlin Paglinawan as it edged Army, 25-15, 22-25, 25-21, 2523.

Arda and Paglinawan pumped in 16 and 15 points, respectively, including combined 28 spikes to steer the Wrecking Balls to their second win in four outings.

Army fell to 1-3 despite Michael Reyes and Benjaylo Labide conspiring for 29 points.
