Chief Superintendent Gilberto Cruz, regional director of Police Regional Office 8 (PRO 8), lauded the Philippine National Police (PNP) for a job well done following the success of Oplan Galugad conducted simultaneously in detention centers around the region on Sept 9. It will be recalled the PNP and the Bureau of Jail Management (BJMP) and Penology entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) regarding Oplan Galugad in consonance with the directive of President Duterte to end the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country. “The operations were jointly conducted by the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in close coordination with the Heads/Wardens of the jail/penitentiary facilities as well as Barangay Officials and representatives from the media,” Cruz said. The operation did not yield any drug-related items, however, with police gathering mostly bladed weapons and mobile phones. All confiscated items were properly documented for proper disposition, Cruz said.
