1 dead, 4 hurt in highway collision
AGOO, La Union – A woman died while four others were injured following a collision between a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a tricycle along the national highway in Barangay Sta. Ana, here, Thursday afternoon.
Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado, Jr., La Union police information officer, identified the fatality as Gloria C. Yaris, 54.
Yaris was among four passengers of the ill-fated tricycle driven by Bon Cris F. Juloya, 21, who escaped with minor injuries along with his other passengers, Ignacio N. Padilla, 40; Gladys V. Padilla, 16; and Jofelyn G. Mangaoang, 38.
Agoo police took into custody Zenaida A. Raquino, 42, the owner of the SUV with plate number MS 1867.
According to police, Raquino, who was driving on the northbound lane of the highway, swerved past other vehicles, resulting in her hitting Juloya’s tricycle, which was traversing the southbound lane.
