cham­pion Na­tional Univer­sity and Ate­neo moved closer to ad­vanc­ing to the men’s Fi­nal Four af­ter eas­ily beat­ing their re­spec­tive foes yes­ter­day in the UAAP Sea­son 80 bad­minton tour­na­ment.

The Bull­dogs blanked the Adam­son Fal­cons, 5-0, while the Blue Ea­gles hacked out a 4-1 de­ci­sion over Univer­sity of the East.

NU and Ate­neo im­proved to 3-0, and the two teams will dis­pute the first semi­fi­nals berth at 8 a.m. to­day at the Rizal Me­mo­rial Bad­minton Hall.

Univer­sity of the Philip­pines nipped Univer­sity of Santo To­mas, 3-2, in the other tie to join De La Salle in third place at 2-1.

The Bull­dogs’ Alvin Mo­rada de­feated Kevin Fabros, 21-9, 21-18, Keeyan Gabuelo bested John­rick Ma­cabenta, 23-25, 21-9, and Mike Min­u­luan turned back Marf Con­cha to sweep the sin­gles matches.

Com­plet­ing the shutout win are NU’s dou­bles pairs of Min­u­luan and Chris­tian Cuyno, a 21-14, 21-11 win­ner over Con­cha and Joshua An­to­nio, and Mo­rada and Alem Pal­mares, who top­pled Fabros and Ma­cabenta, 21-16, 21-19.

The Ea­gles’ drew vic­to­ries from Carlo Remo, who tripped Joseph Man­lalan­git, 21-10, 2110, in the first sin­gles, and Clarence Fi­lart, who downed Ben­jamin Silva, 21-8, 21-10, in the sec­ond sin­gles.
