Flood warning up in W. Visayas

ILOILO CITY – With the on and off rain since the weekend, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Region 6 (RDRRMC-6) warned of possible flooding in certain areas of Western Visayas. “People living in the mountain slopes and low-lying areas or about the river systems are advised to take necessary precaution­ary measures,” said Office of Civil Defense (OCD-6) regional director Jose Roberto Nuñez. In Antique province, RDRRMC-6 warned flooding may occur in the river systems of Cagaranan, Cairauan, Dalanas, Ipayo, Palawan, Sibalom, and Tibiao. For Aklan province, flood warning is issued in the river systems of Aklan, Jalo and Ibajay. Flood risk areas of Iloilo province are along the river systems of Akalaygan, Barotac, Guimbal, Jagdong, Jalano, Jalaud, Jalaur, Jaro-Aganan, Lamunan, Pinantan, and Sibalom. Flood risk areas in Negros Occidental province are river systems of Danao, Grande, Himocaan, Lower Ilog, Malogo, Sicaba, and Upper Tyabanan.
