Ve­lasquez so­cial me­dia is is sad be­ing that used and abused to bash peo­ple, es­pe­cially artists, for one rea­son or the other. Or no rea­son at all.

She felt Socmed – and rightly so – ought to be used for good, like break­ing and in­for­ma­tion, im­por­tant greet­ing news friends, and ex­press­ing feel­ings and sen­ti­ments. Cer­tainly not to de­stroy rep­u­ta­tions and ca­reers.

Regine is speak­ing from ex­pe­ri­ence. She’s been bashed time and again, the lat­est when she trans­ferred to ABS-CBN from GMA. Early on, even her and Ogie

Al­casid’s son Nate was bashed. Imag­ine an in­no­cent child be­ing bashed by peo­ple with no names and faces.

The singer-ac­tress is do­ing some­thing about it. She’s talk­ing to socmed le­gal ex­perts to make it eas­ier to track down bash­ers… and bring ac­tion against them. Regine was told it was best to ig­nore bash­ers. She agrees… “But there are times you have to de­fend your­self.”
