The Cebu Provincial Board has given Governor Hilario Davide III authority to donate a parcel of land to the Office of the Ombudsman.

In a resolution authored by Board Member Jude Thaddeus Sybico and approved by the board, the body authorized the governor to sign a deed of donation in favor of the anti-graft body.

The lot is located at the Department of Agriculture Compound along M. Velez Street in Cebu City. The 1,000-square meter property is adjacent to the property already occupied by the Ombudsman-Visayas.

The anti-graft office requested for additional lot from the Capitol for its expansion project.

"There is a need for the Office of the Ombudsman for additional space and building for its staff/employees and storage or depositories of its records in order for it to be able to serve efficiently its clients all over the Visayas and for effective governance and performance as the watchdog of the Philippine Government," the resolution reads.

The PB believes that it is to the best interest of the public if the Office of the Ombudsman is accessible.
