Global Cebu FC and FC Meralco Manila settled for a scoreless draw in the Philippine Football League last night at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Global remained at the second place with an improved standing of 34 points, while Meralco strengthen its hold at the top spot with 41 points.

Both squads went aggressive early that resulted into a physical game.

Wanting to finally edge Global, Simon Greatwich and Milan Nikolic of FC Meralco were both slapped with a yellow card after failing to control their temper.

This is the third time for the two teams to meet with Global winning the first followed by a draw in their second encounter.

Meralco had several attempts but Global’s trusted goal keeper Patrick Deyto made sure not to spoil the Cebuano fans night as he deflected all of their opponents’ attacks.

Meralco continued to push the pace while Rufino Sanchez had a couple of missed opportunities to score. Even with a three minute added time, no scores were made by both squads.

Despite the result, the home team did not disappoint their fans as they stood their ground and avoid a defeat.
