PDEA-7 confident to hit target
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) – 7 is confident that it can deliver the target number of monthly operations set by the head of agency.
PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino recently gave a directive to all of his regional offices to meet a monthly quota of 30 to 40 operations.
PDEA-7 spokesperson Leia Albiar said that although they felt pressured, they took Aquino’s directive as a challenge to do better, especially that they are now the sole agency responsible to implement the administration’s drug war.
She added that PDEA-7 has already proven its capability in terms of its performance after being hailed as one of the best regional offices last year.
“We have conducted series of operations. Sometimes, our accomplishments are not reported but it does not mean we are not working,” Albiar added.
The most challenging part for them is the filing of cases because this takes so much time of their agents and they lack manpower as of now.
Albiar emphasized their gratitude for the support they received from the public.
She revealed that after President Rodrigo Duterte announced that PDEA will lead the war against illegal drugs in the country, the calls and reports they received from the public have doubled.
Albiar also thanked PNP in helping them in intelligence monitoring.
