“Though He slay me, yet I will trust Him.” That’s who You are to Me, Jesus. May my trust in You grow more and more with my every breath! Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 Psalm 144:1-2, 3-4 Luke 9:18-22 Matthew 20:1-16

A popular actress used to frequent an upscale spa in a well-known building. She never liked anyone else riding in the elevator with her except her bodyguards. Once, a woman got into the elevator she was in. She quickly told her bodyguards to tell the “old woman to step out of her elevator.” The woman responded by ordering the building guards to tell this actress to get out of her building. It turns out that this woman was the eldest daughter of the family who owned that building.

Jesus asked Peter directly who He was to him. So many people had their own theories of who Jesus was, but Jesus wanted to know who He was in Peter’s eyes.

If our “Jesus” is just the opinion of other people, then we still don’t really know who He is. He may be riding with us in the same elevator and we still do not recognize Him. Our relationship with Him must reach the point that we can be in the midst of a crisis and know that He’s there holding our hand. Or that we can look into the eyes of a beggar and say, “Hey, it’s You, Jesus!”- Ronna Singson-Ledesma
