DOH- ARMM holds blood drive, celebrates World TB Day
COTABATO CITY – The Department of Health in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in partnership with the Cotabato Regional Medical Center, recently conducted a blood drive inside ARMM compound in an effort to collect blood to augment its supply for medical patients who needed them.
Volunteers donated their blood after the DOH- ARMM appealed to the public to help sup- port the drive.
The DOH- ARMM also celebrated the World Tuberculosis Day with a short program at its training center here.
Dayang Carlsum Sangkula- Jumaide, DOHARMM Assistant Secretary, presided over the event with Dr. Alexander Ampatuan, the head of the Infectious Diseases Cluster and coordinator of National Tubercolosis Control Program.
Jumaide said the NTP provides various services free of cost, quality tuberculosis diagnosis, and treatment services across the country through the government health system.
She said tuberculosis – which is a curable disease now - is the 6th leading cause of mortality in the country with ARMM ranking 10th. ( Bureau of Public Information)
