Police search for mayor’s son

CEBU – Authorities continue to search for the son of municipal mayor in Leyte province who has been tagged tagged as as a a drug drug lord lord following following the the recent recent surrender surrender of the politician.

Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa, Sr. voluntarily surrendered to clear his name. The mayor was also accused of protecting his son, Rolan, alias Kerwin, who is said to be getting his supply of illegal drugs from Peter Co, a suspected drug lord serving time at the national penitentiary.

Just last week, policemen killed 6 of the mayor’s alleged henchmen during a fire fight near his home in Leyte, and seized assorted weapons.

Espinosa admitted that his son is involved in illegal drug trade and has promised to cooperate with the police which is currently investigating him. The politician also denied all allegations against him.

The police is also keeping a tab of the performance of its units in the implementation of so-called “Project Double Barrel,” a campaign against illegal drugs and drug lords.
