DPWH eyes Express Way in Cebu
CEBU CITY - The Department of Public Works and Highways said it would launch the Cebu Circumferential Road or Metro Cebu Express Highway as part of the government’s infrastructure projects for Cebu.
Engineer Nonato Paylado, DPWH’S Chief of Planning and Design Division, said the project is expected to alleviate traffic congestions in Cebu City. He said the 74-kilometer road stretching from the town of Naga to Danao will pass through upland areas in Cebu province.
The project will cost around P26 billion based on the zonal valuation of properties alone, but it may five times higher once the fair market value and right-ofway costs are considered, he said, adding, that a part of the feasibility study is to find possible sources of funds.
Paylado said they may seek foreign funding for the project which is likely to start by 2022.
