Justice sought for slain Deped official
PAGADIAN CITY – Family and relatives and friends of a slain education official here have demanded justice for his murder even as police continue its investigation into the killing. Police said the 47year old Malcolm Borongan, the Pagadian City Schools Division Superintendent, was killed by a lone gunman during his own farewell and thanksgiving party.
Policemen who responded to the crime recovered bullet casings fired from a .45-caliber pistol.
The gunman escaped on a motorcycle after the attack. Borongan was just promoted by the Department of Education as Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Schools Division Superintendent at the time of the killing.
It was unknown how the gunman managed to get into the party compound or the motive in the murder, but police said it is still investigating the killing. Borongan, according to his fellow teachers, was a simple and modest man who reported to the office on his own motorcycle.
Gun attacks and killings are not uncommon in Pagadian City where hired killers are actively operating.
