SUNNIES SIDE UP

Meet the new cafe on the block: Sunnies Cafe opens this Sunday at Bonifacio High Street.

- By MJ BENITEZ

With its distinct retro- modern aesthetic and undeniable flair for social media, Sunnies has, in a few short years, solidified its presence in the market as the Filipino millenial’s eyewear du jour. And with the recent launch of the much sleeker Sunnies Specs (to much fanfare from the bespectacled youth), wearing prescription glasses has never been, well, cooler. Striking while the iron is hot, the Sunnies empire continues to expand its reach, moving from eyewear to — hold on — concept cafés? This seems like an unexpected move but the Sunnies team insists otherwise, explaining it’s only a natural progression to building their brand. And as promised, the cafe’s interiors are laden with the signature Sunnies touch. Cases in point: Mint walls, marble tables, and pastelcolored seats give wooden accents a cheeky twist, making for an ultra-cozy (not to mention highly Instagrammable) hangout spot.

Set to open at Bonifacio High Street this Sunday, we take a look-see at Sunnies Cafe’s mouthwatering eats. Tip: They’re having a week-long complimentary dessert promo starting July 31 — better get on it.
