BOC seizes P.5-M pearls at NAIA
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has confiscated P500,000 worth of pearl necklaces at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2.
In a statement yesterday, the BOC said the pearls were brought into the country by Ansari Hassan from Hong Kong on March 28.
Agents of the BOC Enforcement Group seized the pearls after Hassan failed to pay taxes for the items, X-ray inspection project director Maj. Jaybee Raul Cometa said.
Authorities detected the pearls weighing 8.42 kilos as the items passed through the X-ray machines.
