NCRPO ready for Sept. 21 ral­lies

The Na­tional Cap­i­tal Re­gion Po­lice Of­fice (NCRPO) is ready for protest ac­tions to mark the 45th an­niver­sary of the im­po­si­tion of mar­tial law next week, an of­fi­cial said yes­ter­day.

NCRPO chief Di­rec­tor Os­car Al­bay­alde said they have yet to re­ceive fig­ures on the num­ber of pro­test­ers who will hold ral­lies on Thurs­day, the day the late dic­ta­tor pres­i­dent Fer­di­nand Mar­cos im­posed mar­tial law on the coun­try.

“Our po­lice­men are ready,” Al­bay­alde said in a ra­dio in­ter­view over dzBB, adding that Civil Dis­tur­bance Man­age­ment (CDM) teams are pre­pared for the event.

Protests are ex­pected to be held at Men­di­ola and Rizal Park in Manila at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. re­spec­tively. Among these groups are Bagong Alyansang Mak­abayan and Move­ment Against Tyranny.

The groups are also crit­i­cal of the Duterte ad­min­is­tra­tion’s war on il­le­gal drugs, which has claimed thou­sands of lives since last year.
