NCRPO ready for Sept. 21 rallies
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is ready for protest actions to mark the 45th anniversary of the imposition of martial law next week, an official said yesterday.
NCRPO chief Director Oscar Albayalde said they have yet to receive figures on the number of protesters who will hold rallies on Thursday, the day the late dictator president Ferdinand Marcos imposed martial law on the country.
“Our policemen are ready,” Albayalde said in a radio interview over dzBB, adding that Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) teams are prepared for the event.
Protests are expected to be held at Mendiola and Rizal Park in Manila at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively. Among these groups are Bagong Alyansang Makabayan and Movement Against Tyranny.
The groups are also critical of the Duterte administration’s war on illegal drugs, which has claimed thousands of lives since last year.
