2 held for fake in­sur­ance claims

Two peo­ple were ar­rested in Pasig City on Fri­day for al­leged fal­si­fi­ca­tion of doc­u­ments for in­sur­ance claims.

Chief Su­per­in­ten­dent Ro­mulo Sa­pit­ula, East­ern Po­lice Dis­trict di­rec­tor, said Andres Fer­nan­dez and Sher­win John Am­posta were ap­pre­hended af­ter re­ceiv­ing a check for P400,000 dur­ing a st­ing in Barangay San An­to­nio at around 4:30 p.m.

The op­er­a­tion stemmed from a com­plaint by a rep­re­sen­ta­tive of SCCI In­sur­ance Co. that Fer­nan­dez and Am­posta sub­mit­ted fal­si­fied doc­u­ments the same day.

The sus­pects were seek­ing in­sur­ance for the vic­tims of a ve­hic­u­lar ac­ci­dent in San Andres, Que­zon on April 29. The vic­tims are taxi driver Arse­nio Guma­pac and his rel­a­tive, iden­ti­fied as Marlo.

They are fac­ing charges of estafa.
