High Flyers vow to bounce back, force ‘rubber’

PayMaya coach Roger Gorayeb rued his charges’ lethargic showing in their Game One loss to Creamline and asked them to shape up in the next match of the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Reinforced Conference Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena tomorrow.

The High Flyers dropped a 21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 19-25 verdict in the opener of their best-of-three series against the Cool Smashers last Sunday as they veered away from their usual game, according to Gorayeb.

“We played like we weren’t in a championship match. We played better in our previous games. We didn’t have backline attacks or combination plays then when we score a point, we will commit an error. Their character was different from the usual,” said Gorayeb.

“Our teamwork, even the passion and desire were gone,” he added.

PayMaya took a 22-18 lead in the second set to draw level but erratic plays in the third made it easier for Creamline to go up, 2-1.
