An open road that flows with the undulating landscape is something that we treasure. When a ribbon of smooth asphalt follows the twists and turns of the mountains, with rapid elevation changes here and there, that’s just pure bliss.

Mazda appreciates our love for the road, and it shows in its vehicles. The CX-5 on the cover is one such ride that delivers a maximum connection between man, machine, and the tarmac underneath. And as our writer, Drei Laurel, says in his very first cover story, Mazda’s brand values are amplified in its latest model. Plus, it’s a car that has all of the advanced safety technologies, yet it delivers an engaging driving experience. To be driving a car like this on that perfect section of road is enough to blow our minds. That’s how addicted we are to driving.

And then there’s our encounter with the folks over at BMT Restoration. This is perhaps the largest restoration shop in the world, and it is located in Clark. Stumbling upon gems like this, where Filipino craftsmen churn out concours-level projects, is indeed a revelation. As we predicted in the past, the Philippines is well on it’s way to becoming the world’s main restoration hub. How’s that for mind-blowing?

It was also Jason Tulio’s first time to witness the Bangkok International Motor Show. In the ASEAN region this is one of the biggest motoring events, and the cars unveiled there often predict what will be offered here. We get to see a glimpse of the future before everyone else. Mind blown.

We topped this issue off with a night drive with Ford Philippines, exploring Antipolo to view the city skyline below, and to see the constellations up above. Hanging out with Lance Mosley and picking his brain about the automotive industry was pretty cool, too.

That’s life at Top Gear Philippines. After all of these years, it still blows my mind that we get to do these really cool things.
