True to its name, the or­ga­ni­za­tion is chaired by John Gokong­wei, with his youngest brother James Go as pres­i­dent—though the son and daugh­ters of “Big John” also play an ac­tive role. Be­liev­ing that ed­u­ca­tion is key to na­tional up­lift­ment, the foun­da­tion has in­vested heav­ily in ed­u­ca­tion, pro­vid­ing gen­er­ous en­dow­ments to nu­mer­ous ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions. It re­cently in­au­gu­rated the GBF Tech­ni­cal Train­ing Cen­ter in Pasig, billed as a “fin­ish­ing school for grad­u­ates,” of­fer­ing fur­ther in­struc­tion in var­i­ous tech­ni­cal, engi­neer­ing, and ser­vice-ori­ented fields.
