Through the Con­suelo Chito Madri­gal Foun­da­tion, en­able the coun­try’s poor­est fam­i­lies to be­come self­suf­fi­cient. Chu-Chu serves as the chair­woman of the foun­da­tion founded by her aunt in 1997. Its key ini­tia­tives in­clude mi­cro­fi­nance, skills and vo­ca­tion train­ing, and pro­vid­ing schol­ar­ships. Ap­pear­ing on T&C’s cover last year, she men­tioned that the foun­da­tion’s mi­cro­fi­nance pro­grams have ben­e­fit­ted around 30,000 peo­ple, while its feed­ing pro­gram cov­ers close to half a mil­lion in­di­vid­u­als. Her two daugh­ters, Alex and Mic, are also young phi­lan­thropists, sup­port­ing causes such as early child­hood ed­u­ca­tion, pro­vid­ing shel­ter for the home­less, and rais­ing aware­ness for men­tal ill­ness and de­pres­sion.
