Five nabbed for ‘spi­der ights’ in Tal­isay City

At least five peo­ple, in­clud­ing a mi­nor, were ap­pre­hended by Tal­isay City po­lice Sun­day af­ter­noon af­ter they were caught con­duct­ing al­leged il­le­gal gam­bling ac­tiv­ity in the city’s Barangay Mata­bang.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied the sus­pects as 33-year-old Er­win Ale­gada, 45-yearold Al­fredo De­saca, 25-year-old Win­ston De­boyan, and 20-yearold Ed Clin­ton Malunes. Au­thor­i­ties, mean­while, re­fused to name the 17-yearold mi­nor.

Ac­cord­ing to lo­cal law en­force­ment, the sus­pects were ar­rested dur­ing an antigam­bling op­er­a­tion, where they re­cov­ered two spi­ders be­ing used for fight­ing, six spi­der cases, one wooden stick, and bet money amount­ing to P1,050.

The sus­pects were im­me­di­ately de­tained at the Tal­isay City Po­lice Sta­tion, while the mi­nor was handed over to the city’s so­cial wel­fare and de­vel­op­ment of­fice./
