Ro­bredo in Ba­colod City to­day

Vice Pres­i­dent Leni Ro­bredo will be in Ba­colod City to­day as key­note speaker for the Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal Small Fish­ers Al­liance (NOSFA) Pro­vin­cial Congress at the Busi­ness Inn.

The or­ga­ni­za­tion seeks to strengthen and ad­vance ad­vo­ca­cies for small fish­er­folk and fish­ery work­ers in Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal.

Act­ing NOSFA Chair An­to­nio Castillo called this year’s congress a “mile­stone,” say­ing it shows the or­ga­ni­za­tion’s con­tin­ued cam­paign for sus­tain­able fish­eries and coastal re­source man­age­ment.

Ear­lier this month, dur­ing the 10th Visayan Sea Gov­er­nors Sum­mit, five gov­er­nors, in­clud­ing

Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal Gover­nor Al­fredo Marañon, Jr., Iloilo Gover­nor Arthur De­fen­sor, Sr., and Capiz Gover­nor An­to­nio Del Rosario, signed an agree­ment com­mit­ting to the ecosys­tem ap­proach to fish­eries man­age­ment frame­work, which pro­motes the con­ser­va­tion, pro­tec­tion, and restora­tion of Visayan Sea ma­rine bio­di­ver­sity.

Other of­fi­cials ex­pected for the NOSFA event in­clude Marañon, Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal Vice Gover­nor Eu­ge­nio Jose Lac­son, Se­na­tor Risa Hon­tiveros, Mag­dalo partylist Rep. Gary Ale­jano, Ak­bayan partylist Rep. Tom Vil­larin, among oth­ers./
