Azkals fall to Ta­jik­istan in Banga­bandhu Gold Cup Semis

The Philip­pine Azkals fell to Ta­jik­istan, 2-0, Tues­day evening in the semi­fi­nals of the 2018 Banga­bandhu Gold Cup in Bangladesh.

Kom­ron Tur­sunov struck early for Ta­jik­istan, scor­ing in the 32nd minute after putting the pres­sure on the young Azkals' de­fense.

Things didn't get any bet­ter for the Azkals in the sec­ond half, as Akhtam Nazarov shut the door on any chances at an equal­izer with a 96th minute strike to dou­ble the Ta­jik lead and ul­ti­mately seal the win.

The Azkals bow out of the Banga­bandhu Gold Cup after top­ping Group B in the group stage, go­ing un­beaten in two matches.

The Azkals now turn their fo­cus on the up­com­ing AFF Suzuki Cup, which kicks off in late Novem­ber.
