PDEA-6 to strengthen se­cu­rity dur­ing oper­a­tions

In re­sponse to the deadly Lanao del Sur am­bush that claimed the lives of five Philip­pine Drug En­force­ment Agency (PDEA) agents, PDEA-Re­gion VI (PDEA-6) re­cently re­vealed they will be strength­en­ing se­cu­rity mea­sures dur­ing their oper­a­tions.

In a ra­dio in­ter­view yes­ter­day morn­ing, PDEA-6 spokesper­son David Gar­cia said they are now ex­tra cau­tious when­ever they con­duct anti-drug oper­a­tions.

De­spite the risks, how­ever, Gar­cia said it will not stop them in their cam­paign against il­le­gal drugs.

Mean­while, he also con­firmed sev­eral politi­cians in the re­gion have vis­ited their of­fice to clear their names af­ter they were ac­cused of hav­ing links to il­le­gal drugs by Pres­i­dent Ro­drigo Duterte.

Gar­cia noted, how­ever, their of­fice does not have the au­thor­ity to re­move in­di­vid­u­als from the pres­i­dent’s “narco list.”/
