November is National Children’s Month
Every November, the Philippines observes National Children’s Month, which was established by RA 10661, or the National Children’s Month Act, signed into law by then-President Benigno S. Aquino III.
According to the Council for the Welfare of
Children (CWC), the observance celebrates and recognizes Filipino children for their important role in society.
This year’s observance will promote the Philippine Plan of Action to End Violence Against Children, which was launched last year and is expected to run until 2022. The project plans to formulate strategies to end violence against children.
CWC also discussed ways to celebrate the month-long observance, including hanging tarpaulins, which are available for download on their website; reciting the Panatang Makabata during flag ceremonies; distributing information about National Children’s Month, among other suggestions./
