Over 7,000 ex­pected for to­day's open­ing rites

More than 7,000 stu­den­tath­letes, coaches, and of­fi­cials are ex­pected to con­verge on the Panaad Park and Sta­dium at 2:00 p.m. to­day for the 2018 Ba­colod City Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion Meet open­ing rites, where Ba­colod City Mayor Eve­lio Leonar­dia, lone dis­trict Rep. Greg Gasa­taya, and mem­bers of the Sang­gu­ni­ang Pan­lung­sod are also ex­pected to at­tend.

In ad­di­tion, ath­letic man­ager Eden Ari­ola said an ad­di­tional 250 tech­ni­cal of­fi­cials will also be join­ing the cer­e­mony.

The ath­letes will be com­pet­ing in a va­ri­ety of events in­clud­ing ar­nis, ath­let­ics, bad­minton, bas­ket­ball, box­ing, chess, gym­nas­tics, sepak takraw, sipa, soft­ball, swim­ming, ta­ble ten­nis, taek­wondo, and ten­nis. How­ever, foot­ball and vol­ley­ball were played ahead of time due to a lack of venues./JSG,
