YES! (Philippines) - - Feedback -

We now have names like Christian

Bables and Joshua Garcia who, thus far, are one-hit wonders. Certainly, they trained hard and are deadly serious about making it as actors, but who would’ve thought they’d be cover material so soon? After all, YES! is not known for doing movie promos or star buildups. YES! is more known for featuring the talk of the town, the bona fide celebrity. So, if we feature Joshua (who made it big in just one movie festival by playing boynext-door Vince in Vince & Kath & James) and Christian (who shot to fame via just one movie, Die Beautiful, playing loyal best friend Barbs), then we must be saying that these two are now stars? Yes, that’s what we’re saying. These days, stars are made in the flash of an opportune moment or on the wings of one successful movie. Given the backing of a major television network, these one-hit wonders can actually go on to become the next John Lloyd Cruz or the next Christopher de Leon. Indeed, stars move up very fast these days. Which is why we try, as soon as we can, to catch up with them, to see them still uncoached and unsophisticated, and wish them the very best in this world they may one day rule, especially when they’re pretty nice guys with real talent, like Christian and Joshua. •
